The Dozer had been digging. In the four seconds it took Kord to reload his third slug, the Dozer had burrowed a spiral pattern around Kord’s feet. The stalagmite platform began to crack. Eli Shane tightened the strap on his Boon Chute. He’d been here before. The pressure. The roar of the crowd in the Slug Chamber. The hiss of a dozen loaded slugs. “I’m sure,” Eli said, holding up his signature blaster. “Let’s slug it out.”
