Tommy sets the glass down. He stands. For a long moment, he says nothing. Then: “You’re making a mistake. I’m not a good man. But I am a predictable one. And I don’t negotiate with people who threaten my family.”

Dawn breaks over Midland, but the light is harsh, unforgiving. Tommy drives his battered F-250 to the M-Tex Oil field office. The parking lot is emptier than usual. Three trucks are gone. Word travels fast in the patch: M-Tex is bleeding cash, and the cartel has started leaning on their supply routes. Landman Season 1 - Episode 9

The phone buzzes. Not a call—a text from an unknown number: "The wind changed. Your move." Tommy sets the glass down

Tommy takes the tequila. Doesn’t drink. Just holds it. Then: “You’re making a mistake

His crew hits a pocket of hydrogen sulfide. The monitor screams. Everyone runs. Everyone but a greenhand named Leo, who freezes. Cooper doesn’t think. He tackles Leo, drags him to the safety of the truck, and seals the cab just as the wind shifts a cloud of deadly gas over the rig.

Tommy rubs his eyes. “How much of a gap?”

“And if I say no?”
